PAUL MARTIN VISITS PT ENGLAND SCHOOLS

PAUL MARTIN VISITS PT ENGLAND
TEAM 4 RECOUNT

WOW!! Paul Martin, the famous rugby player and comic book artist visited Pt England School on Wednesday 22nd June 2016. My heart pounded super duper fast as I saw him walk through the shut doors. Paul brought in a box that had all of his drawing gear inside. His pencils, markers, paper and even his latest book, ADVENTURES OF KORY: FLIGHT OF THE KIWI.

First of all, the whole of team 4 came into our year 6 space. We had a meeting and Paul Martin talked to us about his book and how long it took for him to make his book and get it published. He told us that the one thing he was worried about is that, he didn’t know what it was going to look like. Then he showed us a slideshow of everything that he had accomplished and everything he had to do to create his book.

He introduced us to the characters in the book. Kory the Kiwi, Bert the Gecko, Ken Kory’s Dad and Bert’s Dad was a gecko as well. Kory and Bert had a one favourite sport that they loved to do every day. That sport was surfing. They would actually surf all day, every day if they could.  The villain in this book was a big bad wolf.

Real Life Heroes

KELSI & ALEISHA
Helping Samoan Schools

Have you ever been to Samoa? Well, I have. Schools in Samoa only had, 1 scissors, 1 book and pencil to share throughout the whole class. 2 teenagers named, Kelsi and Aleisha felt depressed for those schools and decided to help out them out

They started to first collect resources for the Samoan schools, For Example: Paper, Pens and Pencils, Markers, Books and more. It took them 2 days to sort out all of the resources that they were going to send to Samoa. They went to other school and they had found out that most schools they went to, they all had left over books and pencils, also boxes of paper and old computers.

It was hard for them to find a way to ship all of the resources to Samoa all by themselves. So, when the shipping department had heard about it, they offered to ship everything off to Samoa for free. Kelsi and Aleisha were super pleased to finally have someone ship off everything to schools in Samoa.

So, afterwards, schools in Samoa would have had everything they needed now. Computers, books, pencils and more. Maybe there might have even been left overs with how much Kelsi and Aleisha delivered.

They are my real life hero. Kelsi and Aleisha. 2 teenagers helping out a country all by themselves.

Narrative - Extension Warrior

Extension Warrior Narrative

Sua Magasiva was born in 1735. He was known to be the strongest man in his Samoan village. One day the Samoan chief, Fa’amatai, named him head warrior of the village. The chief’s daughter, Leka, was very impressed. While being leader, he had to know what to do and he was in charge of all of the warriors weapons and organising the plans of where to go when attacking enemy tribes. Sua, was a strong, fierce male. He loved to exercise and train in preparation for battle.

Later that month, the enemy tribe planned to attack Sua’s village. Sua had heard about this nonsense and had come up with a plan to stop them. Spies from his village found out that the enemy tribe had planned to attack at night once everyone had fallen asleep. They were going to steal their weapons and food and capture them to become slaves. But Sua had a cunning plan.

Each night leading up to the ambush Sua told five of his best warriors to take turns looking out for the enemy. His men trained during the day and got their weapons ready. The whole village was ready for battle.

One day, in the middle of the night, the enemy tribe tried to ambush the village. Luckily the villagers were prepared. Sua lead the battle like a true warrior. He dashed into his secret fale where he hid all of the warrior’s weapons. Spears, bow and arrows, and knives. Sua and all of the villagers and warriors fought for a very long time. But finally, after hours of fighting, they finally captured and defeated the enemy tribe. “We have won!” Sua shouted.

The beautiful daughter of chief, Fa’amatai, was amazed by Sua’s strong muscle. Sua, was amazed by Leka’s beauty. So, Sua went over to Leka and asked her if she would marry him. Leka said yes and busted to tears. After that, the following week, Leka and Sua were married to each other and swore to love each other forever and never forget one another.

40 Hour Famine - Reflection

This year, I am taking part in the 40 Hour Famine. I was in the Green Team, The Winning Team! My team leaders were: Curtis, Lucy and Jack from Shortland Street. We had to make up a team item in our group and perform it after 30mins. The song that we did was: Picky - Joey Montana. We came 2nd for group items.

So, here is what we had to do: Once we were given permission to join, we all were given a sponsor book. Our task was to collect sponsors and all of the money we collect will be given to a country called,  Syria. They have been forced to flee their homes to be safe from danger. They sometimes even have to sleep in cardboard boxes, So we are going to experience what it is like for them in Syria. We were only allowed to eat barley sugars and drink water and juice.

MAYBE YOU SHOULD TRY DOING THE 40 HOUR FAMINE ONCE 2!

Avengers Assemble!

One dark gloomy night, the villains of Gotham City were planning a mysterious phase. HMMM! What were they up to? They were planning to take over the city with an army of robot cyborgs.  Once the Marvel Avengers had heard, they planned to stop them.

2 years later! They had finally finished planning how to stop the Villains of Gotham City. But, it was too late! They were already prepared for battle. So, it took about 30mins for The AVENGERS to get ready and suited up. Avengers and Villains came up to each other saying, “ARE YOU READY TO BATTLE?”.  Avengers say, “LET’S DO THIS! AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!!” Cyborgs run up to Avengers. Avengers run up to Cyborgs. Everyone battles for about 2hrs. It was super long.

Finally, the battle had finished. Marvel Avengers had destroyed all cyborg warriors. Villains had been put behind bars and the citizens of Gotham City congratulated The Avengers for saving their city. HOORAY! They shouted. 3 CHEERS FOR THE AVENGERS! HIP HIP HOORAY! HIP HIP HOORAY! HIP HIP HOORAY! The mayor of Gotham City says a thank you speech to The Superheroes. “On behalf of Gotham City, I would love to say, Thank You for saving our town. You are more welcome to stay if you want. Here is a little thank you gift from the whole city.” They gave them a Superhero trophy with their names on it.

Avengers will come back once their city is in trouble again. But for now, They must save other cities from villains taking over.
