Addition and Subtraction Word Problems

This is my start of the Term Maths Task. It involves subtraction and addition.
For each problem I have used a different strategy to solve it. Their are 2 different ways to solve the problem on each of these slides. Take a look and I hope that you enjoy.

Wk 6 Problems

WALT: Add and subtract decimals to 3 decimal places.

This week my group (Compasses) and I have been working on this presentation since last week now. This presentation includes, Adding Decimals, Place value and much more. The poster that you can see on the left is part of this activity. It has also helped me with my decimals. It is pretty much a pyramid of added decimals. It also fits well with my - WALT. 

Place Value

WALT: Demonstrate use of new knowledge about Place Value. Add and subtract decimals to 3 decimal places. 

These is my Place Value Houses. There are, Hundred Thousands, Ten Thousands, Thousands, Hundreds, Tens and Ones. I was given eight numbers and I had to put them in their columns. Take a look and I hope that you enjoy. 

Telling Time In Hours

Walt: Tell Time in Hours. This week we have been learning about time. This presentation is about how I tell time and what time it is. Take a look.

My Reading Group

WALT: follow instructions, and complete tasks to a high standard. WALT: research a topic and display findings in my own words. Here I have put together a presentation about the New Zealand Dessert, "The Pavlova".

Volcanoes of the World: Google Maps

We had to create a google map and we had to find volcanoes from around the world. We had to mark where they were and write a description about the volcano. Our WALT was to find out about volcanoes from around the world and pin them on a map. We are learning to understand lots of different texts by finding main ideas  in them and then putting the information and ideas that we have learnt into our own words. We created it by going onto Google maps and then we pressed the 3 horizontal lines in the right hand corner and click on my maps. Create a map and call it Volcanoes of the World. We had to fin, pin and write a description about at least 15 volcanoes. I went overboard and did about 30 - 40 volcanoes.

I have learnt about how dangerous volcanoes can be, about the pacific ring of fire and how earthquakes can also create a volcanic eruption. Someone can learn about volcanoes and about them by looking and clicking on my pins that I have put together. I enjoyed create pins and finding a lot of different volcanoes from all around the world. It was an amazing experience.

Short Creative Stories

Instructions: Make up a funny story about a polite magician who makes friends with an elf

I am making a funny story about a polite magician that makes friends with an elf. I will now start to write about it. Why don’t you come and help me write.

Once upon a time there was a polite magician. He was playing with his magic powers in the forest of doom. But the trick was that the polite magician didn't know that he was in the forest of doom. Once the polite magician reached the far end of the forest he realised that he had got lost. So then he started to call HELP, HELP. I am stuck in the forest of doom. Please someone help me. The forest of doom looked very scary. It had a lot of trees, animals and it was so dangerous and scary that no humans dared to enter it.

Luckily, a very kind, smart, short elf heard him screaming help, help. Guess what? The elf knew the forest like the back of his hands. So then the elf showed the magician the way out of the forest of doom. After that, the magician said “Thank you kind little elf. If it wasn't for you I would have been dead by now. Thank you so much for saving me. I really appreciate it. How could I ever repay you?” The elf said, “Well, since you asked. I don’t have any friends. Could you please be my friend?” Then the magician said, “Sure. Why Not. You did save my life.”

Then the elf and the magician came friends and they played all day until it got dark. They both lived happily ever after. THE END.
