RIVERSIDE CAMP HIGHLIGHT

Once the 12:30 bell had rang, the super duper holidays had started. I was so excited. I dashed out the classroom door to see my parents. They were waiting for me in our Big Black Ford. I just couldn’t wait for a mysterious monday morning because on the first monday morning of the holidays I was going to go to a very awesome camp called Riverside Camp. It was going to be held at Willow Park, Eastern Beach.

I was going with 79 other riversiders from Pt England School. I decided to go so that I could have a bit of fun for the 1st week of the holidays. Did you also know that our school riverside camp has been going on for over 25 years now?

At about 10am we had arrived at Willow Park. Once everyone had got out of the buses we unloaded the them and took of our our luggage into the meeting room called The Rimu Room. Furthermore, then we had figured out our teams and the cabins that our team was going to sleep in. My Team slept in room 8. Moreover, we then got our beds ready and we were given a task by Mr Burt to come up with a group name and a group chant. After about 15mins my team came up with a group name and chant. Our name was the PUMBAS. Our group chant was: In the jungle the mighty jungle, the PUMBAS are here to stay. In the jungle the mighty jungle, the PUMBAS come to play and we’ll win all the games we play today X2.

For the teams there were 4 girls teams and 4 boys teams. The Boys names were: BWA, R4BZ, The Simbarians and TANZ. The Girls names were: The PUMBAS, COG, FLAVAS and MUFASA. There were a lot of different chants and names. In our teams we played games in our free time. The first thing that I did in my free time was that I went up to my cabin and got dressed for the beach. After 30mins later, Mr Burt blew the hooter for everyone to meet in the Rimu Room so that we could grab all of our stuff that we needed at the beach to keep warm and even to get a bit wet and sandy. Our activity was to make beach sculptures and we had our own team spaces to make our sculpture in. For 5mins we had time to figure out what we were going to make. Our team made a 3D tree called A Tree Of Life In 3D. So first we drew a border to make the tree. We shaped it, we dug it and then we filled it in. Once we had filled it up with sand, my whole team helped to put props on it. Like grass, sticks and more crazy stuff.

When it had been 1hr, everyone gathered around other teams sculptures and Mrs Burt and Mrs Hamilton was judging them. 4 Teams even made heaps of different things. I can’t even remember most of them. It was too awesome. After we looked at everyone’s sculptures, Mrs Burt the winner in mind. Guess who won? THE PUMBAS! My team jumped up in the air and shouted. YAY! We were all so happy that we even ran and slid on the sand crazily. It was an awesome day for us.  

I had so much fun at Riverside Camp. Maybe next time I will tell you more. Sometime soon. I bet if you were there you would have more fun than I did. I didn't even have a favourite part. I wish I never had to leave.

Holiday Recount

Talofa Lava, Kia Ora, Malo, Kia orana and greeting to all. My name is Ata and I am going to tell you about my holidays.

1st Week of the Holidays

For the 1st week I have been with my Nana until Thursday. Her name is Catherine. She is the best Nana ever. I love her so much. On Monday we stayed home and just relaxed for the whole day. We watched movies. We ate. We also went to sleep for a very long time. I was so tired. At about 3pm, my mum got home from work. My mum works at Alphacrucis (Chaplain Work). She also came home with my baby sister. My baby sister started getting all happy and bouncing around when my mum put her down inside. I was so happy to see my mum and sister. Around 4pm, my dad got home from work as well. He works as Head Security at New World. He works very very hard. After that we had dinner and once we finished dinner, me and my sister Paige cleaned up. Furthermore, we then relaxed, watched TV and went to sleep.

Favorite Part of the Holidays

My Favorite part of the holidays was when I went to Te Oro on Thursday the 9th of July 2015. It was my favorite day because I got to try something new that I have never done before. I joined a Dance Workshop and an Art Workshop. I went to the Dance class at about 10am. I stayed there and learnt some cool dance moves. We had 3 mentors called Justin, Lance and Lekki. They are awesome dancers. I love my dance class. After my dance class I went to my other class. Art class. In my Art class we played games to win sweets. First when you get in you have to guess a number and if you get it right or if you don't get it right, but you get closest to it then you get a prize. You will get a big packet of lollies. That is only at the end of the class. It finishes at 4pm. Normally at 4pm I go home, but sometimes I stay a bit longer. It is Awesome in the holidays.

My Holiday Highlight

My Holiday Highlight

Me, my aunty, uncle, mum, dad, brother and sisters went to Murawai Beach  because it was too hot to just stay home and do nothing.

At Murawai me, my sister, dad, brother and my uncle went for a swim and  there were huge as waves that were bowling us over when we were  swimming. The waves were bowling us over because we just sat on the  ocean floor. They were really big waves.

After we had a swim we hopped out of the water and got changed. Once everyone had got changed, we played on the park for about 10 - 15 minutes. On the park we played on the monkey bars, the slide and on the big spider web. It was really cool. Man if you go there trust me you will love it.

Furthermore, We then went home and had a feed. After the feed we relaxed and went to sleep. Once the day was over I felt amazing. I had such a great time I wish I could stay there for as long as I wanted to.

MY HOLIDAYS

During the holidays I went to Motat and I went inside the Dark Maze and I couldn’t see anything and I went to Motat because it was my biggest sister’s birthday and she loved going to Motat. After that we went to visit my mum at the hospital because she just had her new baby and her name is Mikyra and Mikyra means beautiful princess in Japanese.

My mum just got home from the hospital yesterday. On Sunday my little brother broke his arm because he fell off the flying fox. The flying fox was really high from the ground that even my tallset sister can’t even reach it, the only person that can reach it was my dad because he was the tallset and tomorrow is my little brother Israel’s birthday and he is turning five. He is coming to this school aand he is going to be a year 1.

After that I went home and had dinner and I had KFC and in the KFC Combo was Cole Slaw, two Potato Gravys, a 15 piece bucket of chicken and some chips. Then I had a shower and went to bed.
