Writing Sample Practice and Rubric

On Monday the 7th of September we had our annual school cross country. It was a nice sunny day to do it. We had our cross country after Lunch at 1pm.  

My House Colour was Green. There were other colours too. They were, Blue, Red and Yellow. When we were waiting I felt a bit nervous because I thinking about what place I would come in. We had to hop into Boys and Girls lines from Year 1 - Year 8. Once everyone was in their Year Lines then Ms Vaafusuaga talked to us about the rules. It took forever. Moreover, when she had finished talking then the Yr 1 Boys went up to Race first. I was cheering for my brother. When the clamps went ‘CLAP’ the Yr 1 boys ran as fast as they could. My brother was in the lead. At the end I was very surprised about who had came first. Guess Who Did? MY BROTHER. YAY!!!.

As soon as the Yr 1 Boys were finished Classes 6,7,8,9 and 10 moved over by the field to check out the races. While I was waiting for our turn to race I sat down and watched the other people in the school run. It was amazing. After about 30mins, It was the Yr 5 girls turn. Which means it was my time to run. I was feeling very very nervous. Mrs Nua took us up to the starting line. After That, we and got to the starting line and I looked around me nervously. I saw my friends on the other side of me and they were looking like they were ready to race. When I heard Mr Burt go ‘CLAP’ with the clamps I run my fastest I was coming about 10th at first but then I was coming above 10th. I stopped for a bit then I ran again. I was feeling excited when I ran because I was relieved that I wasn’t coming last. Once I got onto the reserve I stopped for about 5min to catch my breathe then I ran as fast as a lion. I was really getting tired but I knew that if I had stopped then I might have came over 20th. So I carried on.

About 10 mins later I reached the finish line. Heaps of people were cheering for everyone especially Ms Vaafusuaga and Mr Burt. I felt really amazed when I pasted the finish line but I was also very tired. I went for a drink of water then sat down to watch the other races.

Furthermore, when all the races were done I went to class and packed for the next day. I wonder how I will feel next year we do cross country. I might feel heaps of different emotions. Let’s just wait and see next year. It was an amazing day for the whole school. I hope that I come in the Top 5 next year.

Trade Fair Recount

Introducing: The Trade Fair Recount.

Have you ever been to a Trade Fair? If you haven’t then I am going to tell you about what we did for our Team Trade Fair and our fake money at school.

First of all, I am going to tell you about what we have to do to get stuff from our Team 4 Trade Fair. To get stuff we have money in our bank and it is called PT’S and Pieces. Everyone in Team 4 had a Kids Bank that they could log in to and see how much PT’S and Pieces they had altogether. PT’S mean $ and Pieces mean ¢. The last time I logged into my bank I had 3PT and 50pieces. Other people had a lot of money in their bank.

Secondly, I am going to tell you about our Team Businesses. The Teachers announced 6 different Businesses and The names of them were, 1) Custom Stationery, 2) Musical Instruments, 3) Home ware, 4) Kitchen, 5) Toys and 6) Jewels and Accessories. We had to go onto this link: Enterprise Business Group Choices to choose our Business groups. The rule that once you were in the group that you chose then there was no switching. I chose the Home ware Group. In our groups we had to hop into a group of 2 - 4. I was with Tatiyana and Skye. Once we had chosen our groups then we had to decide what we were going to make. My group decided to make Soap and Candles. So I made a spreadsheet to put down information of what we would need, how much it would cost and where to get it from. Lastly, I am going to tell you about what we did for our Team 4 Trade Fair. For our Trade Fair we had to set up in our groups and get our creations together on the table we were working on. Me and my Partners were making soap. My group set up our soap on the table in front of Mr Sommerville’s Class. Once Everyone got set up then the Trade Fair was about to begin. Heaps of People went around ordering stuff from the other groups. For My Soap Group we got 11 Orders. Then after 30mins the people that were going around had to go back to their station and the people that were selling 1st now become the people that were allowed to go and order and buy stuff.

At 3:00 the bell rang and that was when the Team 4 Trade Fair was finished. Until week 8. I hope you enjoyed my Trade Fair Recount. THE END.

The Deadly Plane Crash

The Deadly Plane Crash

I was going on an amazing trip to Europe, but the jet fuel was leaking and then the plane crashed in Africa. There were people suspiciously digging holes in the ground and when the deadly plane crashed on 2 or 3 nervous people who were probably thinking to themselves, “That is the end of my life.” When I heard the pilot say, “Everybody jump off the plane or you’ll die.” I thought to myself, “Oh no, I am going to die.” I was so scared. So, I didn't think at all I just when for it. I jumped off the plane with everyone else. Once I jumped off the Deadly Plane Crash I said to myself, “I am so happy that I am still alive, but now how am I going to get to Europe or how am I going to get home. I am in the middle of nowhere. Now what do I do?”

After that I started to run up and down the middle of nowhere trying to find a way into town, but it was no use, there was nowhere to go. “I am stuck here.” I said to myself. Then I screamed, “HELP, HELP, HELP ME PLEASE. I NEED HELP. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME FIND A WAY OUT OF HERE. PLEASE.” Furthermore, I heard a helicopter sound and I was so pleased to see a helicopter flying over my head. I waved above my head and the helicopter landed beside me. The pilot that was flying it told me to, “Hop In.” I hopped in and he asked me where I was going because he saw the plane crash and I said, “Oh, Hi, I was going to Europe, but my plane crashed and I got stranded here. So, He took me to Europe and I enjoyed the trip.

When I hopped off the helicopter I said, “Thank you so much. Bye.” I went to see the pyramids and castles. I really enjoyed it. When I get back home I am going to tell my family all about my amazing trip to Europe and also The Deadly Plane Crash.

Immersion Assembly Recount

IMMERSION ASSEMBLY RECOUNT

This morning it was the 1st day of school, but of Term 3. I was so excited to finally see my friends. It had been 2 weeks ever since I saw them. I missed them so much. Since it was the 1st day of Term 3, we had an assembly and that is what I am writing about today. Enjoy.

Welcome to my boring assembly recount. Just Kidding. My amazing assembly recount. I am going to tell you all about it. First off, this morning when I arrived at the smartest school ever (Pt England School), the first thing that I did was help the tall Mr Jacobsen  with the chairs. After that I went to the shops and waited for my brilliant friend Stacey and her strong sister Mary. Then I came back to school with Stacey and Mary. Stacey was the first joyful friend of mine that I had met today. At about 8:30am the 1st bell rang. It was very loud. Trust me. Then I got to see 2 of my other awesome friends. Their names were Paige and Sheales. Finally all of my best friends had arrived at school. When I walked to class I saw a tiny, green leaf bug. It was crawling around on the hard, sore stones.

The 2nd bell rang at 8:50am, so that means that it was time for the fabulous assembly. At assembly, when I went in I saw the silly, hilarious Mr Burt auctioning toys, sweets and other cool stuff. He kept calling out “Welcome to the House of England! Where we auction really useless stuff. Just kidding. Really awesome stuff. With this stuff you would never want to share it. You would probably even become selfish with all these cool gadgets.” You would probably want to keep it all to yourself. You might even become greedy. I was so surprised.

Our Topic for this term was Trade and Enterprise. That is why he was auctioning stuff. I went to sit down in the warm hall for assembly. I was so warm. I even started to get hotter and hotter during assembly. In assembly, the whole school sat in the hall ready for Mr Burt to start. He had a lot of things to auction. Even brand new rugby balls. These were the colours: Pink, Blue, Green, Yellow, and Red. They looked so awesome. I had a number in my hands and also some money. My number was 27 and I had $10. I kept on holding my number up for the rugby balls, but I never got any. So then their was a big block of Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate up for auction. So I put up my number and bought it for $10. After that to get my prize I had to pay the prefects my money and then I got to keep the block of chocolate. It looked Delicious. I was so excited and happy to eat it.

Moreover, In assembly there were videos. For example: Team 1 would go first. They had a video to tell us about what they will be doing or learning about in class. Every single Team from 1 - 5 had a video and explanation. My class is learning about marketing (Buying and Selling stuff me create). The fantastic school assembly took forever. I almost fell asleep. It was that long.

Once assembly finished I was so happy. After assembly the whole school went back to their classes and started to do their work. I was starting my immersion assembly recount. It was better than being in the hall for any longer.

About Albert Einstein (Inventor)

Hi this is mine and my partners presentation about Albert Einstein. We were given a task to find information about an Inventor and we picked Albert Einstein. We picked him because he was a really famous and smart Inventor. Also known as a scientist. He Created a refrigerator. But not just any refrigerator. He called it the Einstein Refrigerator. Take a Look. Did you also know that he became famous for his bad memory. Well I didn't either. If you don't believe me just take a look on the internet.

Ata's Game Animation

Are you getting tired of being bored and having nothing to do every wet lunchtime? Well now you can be happy! I have created a game called The Hardest Game Ever. This game will make you never want to stop playing it.

We were given the challenge to construct a game that will turn a boring lunchtime into a awesome lunchtime. It will turn your sad day into a happy day! Now let’s begin.

My game is rated PG. Parental Guidance at all times. This game is only for people 10+. DO NOT PLAY UNLESS YOU ARE 10+. OR ELSE.  

My Lead Character is called Pac Girl. You can find her in 3 different destinations. The Forest, The Canyon and The P.E Beach. All these Places are in NZ. In my game Pac Girl is trying to kill, hammer and eat her enemies without getting hit by their weapons. Her Mission is to try and get to the P.E Beach without dying.

One of the dangerous challenges that Pac Girl must face is that at the end. In the P.E Beach she must kill a Giant Skull to win the whole game. You lose points by getting hit by the enemies weapons. You win points by defeating your enemies. You push the Up, Right and Left buttons to move, the A button to shoot and the space button to hammer. If she dies then an angel comes up from her body.

Some more challenges are defeating Ghosts in the other destinations. To defeat the Ghosts you must hammer, kill and then eat them. To kill the Skulls you must call other characters like Wolves, Snakes and Bats so they can kill and eat up all the bones.   

This has solved my problem because it gives me something to do while I am bored or when it is a wet rainy boring day. I hope that you have enjoyed my Game/Animation that I have created just for kids and people around the world to watch and play. Thanks for watching. Bye.
