Teabag Experiment - Physics

Today, our maths class did a bit of experimenting on a teabag. Mrs Stone set it on fire and it rose to the roof. Here is how it happened.

Its like a hot air balloon. When Mrs Stone set the teabag on fire, the air inside of it started to heat up. Because it heated up, it starts to rise because heat always rises. It pushes against the fabric walls of the teabag, which causes it to rise into the air.

Heat rises because it has more energy and is less dense than cold air. This means that the particles in cold air are closer together and they have less energy than hot air.
